Cut and PasteIn practice, while designing topic maps, it often happens that you want to move a number of topics from one location to another location. Naturally you could change the parent of each topic manually with the help of the topic edit screen, but this is neither efficient nor intuitive. Therefore it is possible to directly cut a number of topics from any position on the map to your personal clipboard (with the intention to bulk-paste them all later into another topic somewhere else on the map).
What is the "personal clipboard”?Technically, the personal clipboard is a special topic named "Clipboard [your name]”, which is created automatically on-the-fly, as soon as you use the cut functionality for the first time. Your personal clipboard is only visible to you (as the owner) and it is created below the "Clipboard" topic. When you cut a topic on the map, the parent of the topic in question is set to your personal clipboard, which effectively "moves” the topic to this special topic. Pasting the clipboard contentAs soon as something is in your personal clipboard, the breadcrumb on top of the map will show the new "Paste” button and the number of topics in the clipboard in RED:
You can now navigate to the desired new location on the map. If you now click the "Paste” button, the clipboard content will be pasted into the currently focused topic. |
